Scenes from Ireland

As mentioned in my previous post, back in April, I had the privilege of working with Greg Dobbs and Hank Bargine from HDNet’s World Report on a news documentary about the economic crisis in Ireland and the upcoming Gathering in 2013 . The World Report on Ireland will air across the U.S. in the next month or so.  In the meantime, I thought I would share some of the wonderful footage that Hank Bargine captured while we were filming in Dublin and Co. Wicklow. I have also included some of the photos that I took while we were shooting. We were so lucky to get stunning weather with blue skies dotted with fluffy white clouds and lots of goarse in full bloom.

The highlight of our filming was stumbling across O’Donoghue’s Pub in Dublin when friends of The Dubliners were paying tribute to Barney McKenna the day before his funeral. O’Donoghue’s was The Dubliners local and Barney McKenna, their banjo player, was the last of the original members to die.  This was a very personal and touching tribute that we felt so privileged to experience and film.
